The last great Fatimid mosque, raised on a row of shops just outside Bab Zuweila.
Completed in 1160 by the vizier Tala'i ibn Ruzzik, this is the last major mosque built under the Fatimids. It is a rare "suspended" mosque, its prayer hall lifted above a range of shops whose rents once funded its upkeep, with a graceful arcaded porch facing the gate.
