Bab al-Nasr

The Gate of Victory, its square towers still bearing names painted by Napoleon's soldiers.

The second of Badr al-Jamali's northern gates of 1087, Bab al-Nasr is distinguished by its massive square towers carved with shields and swords. During the French occupation of 1798 it served as a barracks, and the tower names left by Napoleon's troops can still be read above the entrance.
