Bayt al-Razzaz

A sprawling merchant palace of courtyards and mashrabiya, layered across two eras.

One of the largest surviving historic houses in Cairo, Bayt al-Razzaz grew from a late-15th-century Mamluk core, associated with Sultan Qaitbay, into a vast Ottoman-era mansion enlarged in the 18th century. Its two great courtyards, carved wooden screens, and reception halls illustrate centuries of elite domestic life.
