National Museum of Egyptian Civilization

The museum whose opening was marked by a torchlit parade of royal mummies through Cairo.

Set beside the ancient lake of Ain al-Sira in Fustat, the museum partly opened in 2017 and was fully inaugurated in April 2021. Its opening coincided with the Pharaohs' Golden Parade, in which 22 royal mummies were carried in procession through Cairo to its purpose-built Hall of Royal Mummies, tracing Egyptian civilization across every era.
