A merchants' caravanserai turned arts house, where whirling dervishes still perform.
One of Cairo's best-preserved wikalas, or caravanserais, this early-16th-century complex built by Sultan al-Ghuri housed traveling merchants and their goods around a central court. Restored as a cultural center, it hosts the celebrated Tanoura whirling-dervish performances of the Al-Tannoura troupe.
