Al-Mahgar Street

Al-Mahgar is a place name in the old Fustat belt of Old Cairo, part of the fabric of Egypt's first Islamic capital by the river.

Fustat, founded in 641, was the earliest Muslim city in Egypt and the seed from which Cairo grew. Streets in this southern belt preserve fragments of that first settlement.
