Mossadeq Street

The street is named for Mohammad Mossadegh, the Iranian prime minister who nationalised his country's oil industry in 1951.

Mossadegh became a symbol of anti-colonial resource sovereignty before his 1953 overthrow. Naming a Dokki street for him reflected Egypt's solidarity with that cause.
