Named for Mostafa al-Nahhas, the Wafd leader who served as Prime Minister multiple times between the 1920s and 1950s.
Al-Nahhas succeeded Saad Zaghloul at the head of the nationalist Wafd and dominated pre-revolution politics. The Nasr City avenue is one of the district's major arteries.
