Market lane · Southern Cairo, near the cemeteries

Souk al-Goma'a

The name simply means 'Friday Market', for the great secondhand bazaar that spreads out on Fridays, the Muslim day of gathering.

Held near the southern cemeteries, it is legendary as a place where anything can be bought or bartered. Its name comes from its day, not any person or trade.
