Syria Street

The street is named for Syria (Souria), a resonant choice given Egypt and Syria's short-lived union as the United Arab Republic.

Sharia Souria is one of Mohandessin's liveliest streets. Its name captures the height of Nasser-era pan-Arabism, when Cairo and Damascus formed one state.
